A Message from WFCA Health Care Manager

By Jim Lux

As the newly hired Health Care Manager for the Washington Fire Commissioners Association benefits program, I thought people in the field might have some questions about my background and perspective regarding this important WFCA program.

I was a public servant for over 30 years at the state level. My experience was in budgeting, financial policy setting and financial management. I was fortunate to work for Office of Financial Management, the House of Representatives and the Department of Fish and Wildlife to build the knowledge and skills that I bring to the Association. As a legislative staff person, I was involved with state-level health care finance and budgets as well as a Joint House-Senate Task Force on Local Government Finances and Criminal Justice.

I am here to manage a top flight self-funded health care program that works with its partners to provide the best care possible for those enrolled in our program. A balance is necessary between cost, benefit coverage, individual needs and comprehensive fairness to all covered employees, spouses and dependents. I am pleased to be an employee of the Association and ultimately to help local fire district commissioners, employees and dependents receive the best health care coverage possible.

I encourage you to call me for any health care questions or other benefit assistance you may need. I can be reached at 1.800.491.9322, 360.943.3880 or email me at jiml@wfca.wa.gov. I look forward to serving you as your Health Care Manager.
